Welcome to my classroom web page. I have been teaching at Clinton Elementary School since 1986. I began here at Clinton school working with the Title 1 Reading Program. Since then I have taught second and third grade.
Our Daily Schedule looks something like this:
Reading instruction uses the workshop model. Areas that we focus on in third grade are reading strategies, story elements, comprehension, reading fluency, genre types, and main idea and supporting details. In addition, students engage in writing about reading, buddy reading, and read alouds.
Math instruction follows the district Envisions program. Major areas that we focus on are multiplying, division, fractions, area, volume, and time.
Writing instruction follows the district writing program of Lucy Caulkins which includes narrative, informational, and opinion writing.
Science/Social Studies topics include studying the Maine map, famous Maine people, government, economics, magnets, and habitats.
Field Trips include Maine State Museum and State House, Margaret Chase Smith Library/Museum,and Wolfneck State Park,
